The Unboxed Voices 3rd Annual Play Festival

unboxedvoices

My yearly tradition of acting continues with the Unboxed Voices Third Annual Short Play Series. I’m all up in this, I have a monologue and I’m in a youth written scene! Back up off me, Decaprio.

The youth scene is by writer Danielle Bonet. I haven’t met her, or him, and we haven’t spoken. I guess all I can tell you about Danielle is that he, or she, can’t legally drink yet, and he, or she, wrote this sweet short play, Restaurant. Restaurant is about the night a couple reveals their love for each other.

Restaurant goes up Saturday, July 26th at 3PM and Sunday the 27th at 7PM.

I’m also performing my short story/monologue, Namor. Namor is about duality, and goes up Friday, July 25 at 7:30PM and Sunday, July 27th at 3PM.

(Namor was published in Have A NYC 3 in June, here’s where you can get it:

“Namor” published by 3 Rooms Press in “Have A NYC 3″

HaveANYC3--flyer

What up?

“What up?!” In some parts of our city, this one of the most common ways to say hi, or “How you doin’”. “How you doin’” is just another way to say “What’s poppin’?” , a variation on “What’s good?” which is another version of….the dance goes on. And that’s just a greeting.

Here in the great experiment called New York City, the diversity of the human experience can come alive before our eyes in a five minute walk, or within a 190 page book!

My short story, Namor, has been published in HAVE A NYC DAY 3, an annual collection of short stories about the greatest city mankind has ever imagined (suck it, Copenhagen). The collection is put out by  3 Rooms Press: www.threeroomspress.com .

Below are some of the places it can be purchased. I will also be reading a portion of the story at the book release event, this Friday, June 6th. This is a free event at the Cornelia Street Café starting at 6. More details on the flyer attached.

Please email me if you plan on attending.

 Thanks much.

“Minutos” Published by Bohemian Press

Minutos de celular

Greetings peoples,

Another piece from my play Locombia has been published in Bohemian Press’s Dead Flowers Poetry Rag!

It’s called Minutos, and it’s about the cell phone minutes racket in Bogota, Colombia. These citizens of Bogota pictured here are partaking in that very racket. You can find it right here:

 http://www.bohemianpupil.com/wordpress/?p=725

The magazine is available to print or upload as a PDF (I’m on page 13).  All gratitude to guest editor Victoria Smith.

Be well!
